FACOS BatteryPack
What is a BatteryPack, really?
In the world of professional electric vehicles, the reliability of the energy storage system is critical. This article takes you inside the technical architecture of our BatteryPack, explaining its principles, concrete benefits, and the design logic that makes it different from a standard battery.
In the electric traction sector, a BatteryPack is not just an assembly of cells. It’s an integrated energy system designed to ensure:
- Long-term safety
- Operational efficiency
- Active protection
- Intelligent diagnostics
At FACOS, each BatteryPack is designed in-house, with carefully selected components and a custom electronic architecture tailored to our systems (e.g. NAUTY900, EPM900, E-DRIVE800).
Why We Chose Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO₄) Cells
Not all lithium batteries are created equal.
FACOS chose LiFePO₄ (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry because it’s the most reliable, safe, and stable over time—especially for professional vehicles operating daily in demanding environments.
Compared to other lithium chemistries (e.g. NMC), LiFePO₄ cells offer:
High thermal resistance
stable performance even under shock, stress or high temperatures
Maximum electrochemical safety
no risk of fire or explosion, even in case of mechanical damage
Exceptional long-term durability
over 5000 real charge/discharge cycles with no significant degradation
Stable autonomy over time
low self-discharge and better long-term performance retention
Cobalt free:
No use of rare or ethically problematic metals
Reliability in harsh environments
Excellent performance even with dust, humidity, vibrations or extreme temperatures
It’s the ideal technology for those seeking durability, safety, and consistent performance—with no surprises.
Modularity and Available Models
- 80V / 30Ah
- 80V / 60Ah
- 46V / 120Ah
- 48V / 120 Ah
- 53V / 180Ah
- 53V / 240Ah
These modules can be used individually or connected in series (parallel connection is technically possible but not recommended).
- The 30Ah and 60Ah models are ideal for compact vehicles with lower energy needs (e.g. cargo bikes, urban EVs).
- The 120Ah, 180Ah, and 240Ah models suit high-power applications such as agricultural, marine, or industrial machines.
FACOS also offers custom-built modules tailored to specific voltage and capacity based on client requirements.

Integrated BMS – Intelligence On Board
Each module includes an integrated BMS slave that communicates with a master BMS (e.g. in NAUTI 900, E-DRIVE800), and performs:
- Continuous voltage monitoring of individual cells
- Internal temperature measurement
- Pack-level voltage control
- Smart cell balancing for long-term stability
- Automatic charge/discharge protection
It also calculates the State of Charge (SOC) and State of Health (SOH), providing critical data for energy management and predictive maintenance.
A self-heating function activates automatically, enabling safe operation even in very cold climates—ensuring performance and safety in extreme conditions.
The master BMS collects data from all modules and coordinates the full energy system—from charging to traction.
It is currently integrated in NAUTY 900 and E-Drive 800. A new version of the FACOS charger will soon include charger, EPM, and BMS master functionalities in one unit.
This architecture ensures centralized, intelligent control, ready for high-voltage systems up to 800 V and complex multi-module setups.
Patented Structure Without Internal Cabling
A distinctive feature of FACOS BatteryPacks is the patented internal structure:
No internal wires for power or signals
Multilayer PCB integration
No internal connectors → no mechanical weak points
Maximum robustness, shock and vibration resistance
Environmental protection and electrical insulation
FACOS BatteryPacks are built for extreme environmental conditions, with:

IP67 Rating
fully sealed against dust and temporary water immersion – ideal for
agricultural, urban, or industrial use

3000V Galvanic Isolation
between power circuits and chassis – protects from leakage
currents, EMC interference, and system failures
These features make the BatteryPacks ideal for heavy-duty and outdoor applications where certified durability and safety are essential.
Communication and Diagnostics
Each BatteryPack communicates with the vehicle through standard protocols such as:
- CAN-bus (J1939)
- RS-485 (multi-drop)
All parameters are available for monitoring and diagnostics via PC interface, in graphical format.
Through our diagnostic tool, the client can access:
- Pack status (voltage, temperature, SOC)
- Cell balancing status
- Charging/discharging behavior
- Warnings or alerts
This transparency makes the BatteryPack easy to manage and safe to integrate into any professional electric vehicle.
