Project Summary
FACOS engineered the electric traction and energy management system for a three-wheeled cargo bike designed for urban goods delivery, with a strong focus on environmental sustainability and maneuverability in narrow city streets.
The vehicle, named Freegônes, has been distributed across France with over 700 units equipped with FACOS technology—proving the reliability, modularity, and scalability of our system.
The solution was fully customized and seamlessly integrated onto an OEM chassis.
Background
The growing demand for last-mile logistics in urban areas led Kleuster, in partnership with Renault Trucks, to develop an innovative zero-emission platform for city deliveries.
They needed a compact, safe, and integrated electronic system, adaptable to multiple cargo bike configurations.

FACOS Solution

NAUTY 900 → all-in-one module combining Drive, BMS Master, and onboard AC charger

BatteryPack LiFePO₄ – 43V / 120Ah → modular, self-heating lithium battery

EPM900 → energy and safety management unit with DC-DC converter for accessories

Custom CAN interface for communication with the vehicle’s central control system
The system was engineered to guarantee full-day autonomy, even with refrigerated modules or heavy loads.
