The EPM900 is a compact and intelligent power management unit developed by FACOS Srl to ensure safe and efficient operation of high-voltage battery packs in electric and hybrid vehicles.
It integrates: active galvanic isolation, a programmable DC-DC converter, smart pre-charge system, electronic interlock safety, and CAN-bus / RS-485 communication.

Key Features
- Integrated DC-DC converter (adjustable 0–20 VDC, default 14.7 V – 100 A)
- Active galvanic isolation with argon-gas sealed relays
- Smart pre-charge logic for safe system startup
- Electronic interlock system with real-time detection
- Bidirectional current sensing via Hall effect transducer
- Voltage threshold monitoring (min/max)
- Dual communication: CAN-Bus (J1939) + RS-485
Smart Pre-Charge System
At power-on, the module checks the voltage curve:
- If safe → power is activated
- If abnormal (e.g. short circuit) → the system halts and reports error
Protects inverters, converters, and HV batteries from damage.
Electronic Interlock Safety
- Detects unintentional disconnection of HV connectors
- Cuts off power before contact separation
- Triggers irreversible shutdown for full galvanic isolation
Ensures maximum operator safety
Programmable DC-DC Converter
- Adjustable voltage: 0–20 VDC
- Max output: 100 A
(Default: 14.7 V – ideal for 12V auxiliary battery systems)
Communication & Diagnostics
- CAN-Bus (J1939 protocol) for system communication
- RS-485 port for configuration and diagnostics
